Bike distance: 3 miles of paved roadWe enjoyed our last multi sport adventure so much that my 10 year old daughter, Annika Gjonnes, jumped at another opportunity, but this time it was biking and hiking the Riverside Trail near Estacada.
We passed the Rainbow Campground (also the northern trailhead) as Highway 224 turns into Forest Service Road No. 46 and continued for 3 miles to the Riverside Campground, which is on the right.
FSRD No. 46 to the southern end at Riverside Campground also on the right.
The forest is filled with moss covered alder, big leaf maple, cedar and Buy Prada Shoes Sale
Once we made it to Riverside Campground, we unlocked our bikes and had a blast riding just 3 miles back to the truck on FSRD No. 46. If you have children with you, be aware of traffic as this is a commonly traveled paved road (not too bad in the winter months) with no shoulder.
About halfway through this 4 mile hike, the trail rose high above the Clackamas River which afforded us some great views of both the dense forest and turbulent river below during our lunch break. There were a few swampy areas as we dropped back down to the river's edge, but several boardwalks kept our feet nice and dry. As we neared the end of our trek, we passed through more giant old growth stands along the bank of the river.
We rode our bikes down the paved drive to the end of the campground where we found a sign along the river that said, "National Recreational Trail." We found a place to stash our bikes and drove the truck 3 miles back to Rainbow Campground. There were no fees required for our winter hike since the campgrounds are closed for the winter, but you should call the Estacada Ranger Station for summer regulations if you save this hike for another season.
Driving Directions: Drive north on Interstate 5 for 18 miles to Exit No 271 at Woodburn and turn right onto Highway 214. Drive 2.4 miles and continue straight through an intersection and onto Highway 211. Continue on Highway 211 for 34 miles through Molalla and to Estacada. Turn right onto Highway 224 and drive for 25 miles to Rainbow Campground on the right. Highway 224 stays to the right at an intersection by Rainbow Campground and turns into FSRD No. 46. Drive an additional 3 miles on Lacoste Marice
We were careful to not block the gate and hiked through the campground, favoring the left side of the loop. Riverside Trail No. 723 begins to the left of the outhouse as it follows the Clackamas River upstream. This is a very well built and maintained trail with a soft leaf and pine duff surface.
fir trees. Soon into our hike we walked through a large grove of old growth fir and red cedar trees. My daughter, the explorer that she is, was elated with how many enormous mossy logs there were for her to balance across. She even skipped a couple of bridges and chose to traverse the logs instead. I've read that this is also a great place to see spawning steelhead salmon work their way up stream in the fall, which would be a great educational Lacoste Shoes For Mens opportunity for the Lacoste Loafers India
