Denise Spenard, of Manchester, who was running after she was hit with shrapnel and injured last year on Boylston Street, did not finish. She made it to mile 18, where she passed out due to dehydration. She is OK, but was being treated at a Boston area hospital.

Last year was supposed to be their final Boston Marathon, but after the bombing, they decided they wanted to cross the finish line together once more. Rick Hoyt plans to continue the race in the future with someone else pushing him.

While the focus was on the runners, thoughts were with the victims of last year's bombing.
